I was born in Kolkata but was brought up in Kathmandu. I was always fascinated with the Himalayas and especially when it was Nepal. I have lost count on how many times I have visited Nepal since I moved to India for my higher studies mostly coz my parents lived there but more so my love for the country especially the route through the hills and it’s terrain. 

Sometime in 2017 is when I learned about Upper Mustang and since then my want to visit the region was in my heart but somehow I wasn’t able to plan for this. I went to Nepal almost 4-5 times since then but Upper Mustang never happened and not to forget the cost which was one of the crucial factor to which the wish to visit kept getting postponed. 

In Feb 2019 I created a whatsapp group with a handful no. of friends with the intent to do Winter Spiti and eventually completed the trip with 13 members participating and enjoying the winters to its best. With the same intent had discussed in brief with the same group for Upper Mustang as an upcoming trip and almost 5-7 from the same group got excited about the same. I changed the name of the group to Mustang Enthusiasts but little did I know that after planning the trip Covid would play a spoilt sport. Well again the same got postponed till May 2021. Reinitiated the discussions however the situation in Nepal wrt Covid, as explained by my travel partner, was not favorable so decided to drop the plan till the next year. So I did some wonderful trips to Spiti with family and some close friends in 2021, then to Goa in Jan 2022 and then to Rider Mania – 2022 to Hyderabad in Mar 2022 and then upon my return my research for Upper Mustang is reinitiated.        

In Sept 2021 I promised myself that I would make sure I visited Upper Mustang in April or May 2022.
